Kittilä Church

`
Kittila Church in Lapland, Finland

Kittila church is a lovely historic church in the town of Kittila, about 15 km from Levi. The church was designed by C.L. Engle, architect of the cathedral in Helsinki, shortly after Kittila became an independent parish in 1825.  The church was completed in 1831.  The wings and steeple were added around the turn of the twentieth century.

During the War of Lapland in World War II the church was the only building in the town not burned by the German army.
