Whisnant Journal
The Whisnant family of America descends from the Visinands of the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The earliest record of this family is an agreement made in 1242 that was witnessed by "P son of Wion Visinant". Our Whisnant family traces back to Guilliaume Visinand of Maracon who was born before 1570. In the 16th and 17th centuries the family was closely tied to wine making in both Switzerland and Germany. After the 30 Years War, Francois Visinand moved his family to the Pfaltz in Germany. His son Philip Peter Visinand then moved his family to America in 1731.

Whichever journey you take, do remember you can go backward and forward along lines, jump to spousal lines and journey backward and often take interesting side trips to siblings lines. And regardless of your route, be sure to take a moment to explore the media and historical perspectives!
The Whisnant Journal may be followed in many ways:
Guilliaum Visinand (born before 1570)
Alexander McEntire (born about 1707)
Jacob Wolfe (born 1798)
George Coon (born about 1780)
