Philip Whisenhunt and
Mary Bohelier

Philip Whisenhunt was born in Lancaster Co., PA about 1736.  Philip died about 1791 in Lincoln Co., NC.  During the Revolution he served in the British Army.  At the end of the war he was serving in Florida and was left stranded without means to get home.  He did eventually make it back to NC.
He married twice.  He married Mary Bohelier before 1762.  Mary died before 1788.  Mary's lineage is totally unclear.  She may have married Philip in NC or in PA.  There are no records for Boheliers either place.  In the second quarter of the nineteenth century similar names begin showing up in Rutherford County, NC -- Beheler, Beheeler and Boheler.  All of these names seem to be a cross between the written and  phonetic version of the German name Bühler.  Most often this name was Anglicized as Peeler.  In German the "b" is pronounced "p".  Antonius Bühler and his family immigrated to PA and attended Muddy Creek Lutheran Church with the Whisnants.  Two of his sons eventually moved to the Lincoln and Rutherford County area of NC and were the ancestors of the many Peelers (and perhaps Behelers, Beheelers and Bohelers) in the area.  Could Mary be an undocumented daughter?
Philip married second to Ann Helms in Lincoln Co., NC, 10 Apr 1788.  Ann was born before 1774.
Philip Whisenhunt and Mary Bohelier had the following children:

i.  Maria Magdalena Whisenhunt was born in Lincoln Co., NC 1762.  Maria died 1818 in Lincoln Co., NC, at 56 years of age.  She married  Benjamin Whitener in Lincoln Co., NC, 1780.

iii.  Johan Conrad Whisenhunt was born about 1765.  Conrad died about 1796.  His body was interred in Daniel's Reformed Church, Lincoln Co., NC.  He married  Molena unknown before 1778.

+    v.    Adam Whisnant was born about 1769.
