i. Gilgian Egger was born in Adelboden, Canton Bern, Switzerland 20 April 1688. Gilgian died about 1762 in Frutigen, Canton Bern, Switzerland. He married Barbara Zurbruegg in Adelboden, Canton Bern, Switzerland, about 1720. Barbara was born about 1704. When Gilgian died he left his brother Peter a legacy of 1100 pounds (quite a sum in those days). On 21 Oct 1762 the government of Frutigen granted permission for Peter's relatives in the area to divide the money since it was believed he had "emigrated to Carolina more than 40 years age."
