John Peter Eaker and
Nancy (?)
John Peter Eaker was born in Lincoln Co., NC 1765. John died 1819 in Cape Girardeau, MI, at 54 years of age.
He married twice. He married Nancy(?) unknown in NC, about 1788. Nancy died 1797 in NC leaving John Peter with five young children. He married Sarah Hambright in NC, 14 Nov 1798. Sarah was born about 1768. Sarah was the daughter of Col. Frederick Hambright and Sarah Hardin.
He resided in on land inherited from his father in Lincoln Co., NC until 1817. By this time the recession which followed the War of 1812 was hitting hard in North Carolina and Lincoln County was no longer on the frontier. A number of German speaking settlers had already moved west to a place called Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It was on the new western frontier of the Mississippi River. Land was free, save for a $41.00 registration fee. Some of the Lincoln County families already with members in Cape Girardeau were the Crites, the Ashenbrenners, the Lorances, the Probst, the Hildebrands, and the Bakers to name a few. John Peter and his second wife, Sarah Hambright moved with their four children and two sons from his first marriage to Missouri. He left three married children from his first wife behind in NC.
John Peter Eaker and Nancy(?) had the following children:
